Nathan Moon attended the NSF Conference on September 25-27, 2017

CACP researcher Nathan W. Moon recently attended "STEM Education, Learning Disabilities, and the Science of Dyslexia," a conference sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on September 26-27, 2017, in Washington, D.C. The conference was a response to the Research Excellence and Advancements for Dyslexia (READ) Act, which was passed into law by Congress in 2016 and mandates NSF funding for dyslexia research. Presentations focused on the scientific and neuropsychological bases of dyslexia and how the disorder affects the performance of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The relationship between reading and mathematics disabilities was explored in detail, as well as what is currently known about interventions to improve the participation of students with dyslexia in STEM.
