Nathan W. Moon Presents at 2018 USG STEM Summit

Nathan W. Moon recently delivered two presentations at the 2018 University System of Georgia (USG) STEM Summit, held on October 24, 2018, at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia. Nathan currently serves as an External Evaluator for the USG STEM Initiative, an effort involving 14 USG institutions to support science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) success in Georgia's colleges and universities. He presented an update on the Year 2 evaluation at the STEM Initiative Grantees" Breakfast.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released a Public Notice announcing their call for nominations for the eighth annual Chairman’s Awards for Advancement in Accessibility (Chairman's AAA). Nominations are due by February 28, 2019, and can be made for various categories including accessible mainstream technologies, assistive technologies, technology standards, and best practices in delivering accessible solutions.

The Wireless RERC completed a study observing the 2016 nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and released a research brief outlining findings and recommendations. EAS is a national warning system in the United States established in 1997 by the FCC to alert the public of local weather emergencies as well as national security incidents. The most recent National EAS Test was conducted on September 28, 2016. Before this test, the FCC provided key recommendations and technical requirements to broadcasters based on the first national EAS test in November 2011.
